Hotel Comments: Nice hotel. The rooms in the wing we stayed were a bit dated but clean. Quick shuttle ride.

Dining Comments: Two words: Kebab Palace. 2315 South Eads Street. Its about a 15 minute walk but let me tell you the kebabs are unbelievable. $10 for tasty, perfectly grilled, succulent kebabs, basmati rice, chickpeas, a little salad, and piping hot flatbread. Its quite a lot of food so I recommend you don't eat for at least 6 hours prior. The place is also open 24 hours a day. Very handy when they refuse to cancel the last EWR-DCA flight, you're sitting in Amelia for 3 hours, and you're starving. Very important: the good kebab palace has a yellow awning outside. Practically right next door there is another kebab palace family restaurant that, according to Yelp, is quite inferior. So don't walk too far or you're at the wrong place.

Entertainment Comments: I find it entertaining to sit on the street, drink coffee, and watch all the government employees walk around like mindless robots.

Hotel Comments: Stayed here 3 nights in a row and really enjoyed it. This hotel is nicer than the old one, it's a typical Doubletree and very comfortable. The rooms have very quiet central heat/AC and the windows keep the noise out. The staff is friendly, and the van service is not only punctual but they have shuttle service to the Pentagon City mall every 30 minutes, where you can also get on the Metro into DC. The mall is a short walk, go out of the hotel and walk 4 blocks to the left.

Dining Comments: At the mall is a good food court and the shopping center across the street has a California Pizza Kitchen, Chevy's Mexican, and a Starbucks. Take the Metro into DC to Archives/Navy Memorial for great food in the Penn Quarter-lots of bars, restaurants, movies, etc..

Entertainment Comments: Shop at the mall, see the museums of the Smithsonian, see DC.

Hotel Comments: Its a Doubletree. comfy beds, but you could tell we got the "airline crew rooms." sink cracked, toilet blocked, paneling on the sink warped. BEWARE... van in the morning... told 10 minutes or so... they failed to mention that that van ALSO has to pick up at the Embassy Suites. So, while it leaves at the top and bottom of the hour, expect 15-20 minute van ride!

Dining Comments: Was a short over night. Hotel bar and skybar at the top floor.

Entertainment Comments: Short overnight. Don't know what there was to eat.

Hotel Comments: Front desk manager refused to let me heat up my dinner using a microwave citing, get this, the fact that it's illegal for him to do so under local law. If I were to not heat my food enough and get sick....I might be able to sue the hotel. However, if I wanted to rent a microwave, I could do so for 25 bucks. Nickle and diming crappy hotel.

Hotel Comments: Don't care about anything else, if a hotel STILL charges 7 bucks for internet...its a crappy hotel. There are red roof inns that have free internet, anyone charging is just greedy.
