Hotel Comments: "Now Larimar Bavaro" is a new property. If you Google-Earth it, as of April 2012, you'll see a big sand pit in a swamp where it's supposed to be, or perhaps a reference to the "Eden H Real Arena Punta Cana Resort." The star rating above is kinda tough to go by completely. For instance, I would give the rooms an 8/10 for newness, working fixtures, etc. However, for proximity to beach, I would give it a 1/10. Crews are put in rooms which are literally 1 mile or more for the beach. Google Earth puts it in perspective. There are golf carts running a shuttle-type service to the Eden H (now part of the "Now Larimar") which is where the beach is located. As posted below, the "Preferred" rooms are the ones at the Eden H, which is a much nicer and expansive property adjacent to the beach. There are no wrist bands here, so you're free to roam back and forth between either. Hotel is full of Canadians that smoke like chimneys nearly everywhere (next to you at the pool, next to your table at breakfast, etc.) “Now” non-preferred buildings were constructed on top of a salt-marsh swamp. There are lots of mosquitos. There is a jacuzzi on the patio of all the rooms. Crews can bring a companion for 49.99 EUR it says on my welcome flyer. Staff seemed very friendly and accommodating (9/10).

Dining Comments: Food and drinks all inclusive. Food is a 6/10. The cook to order stuff was hit or miss, all the buffet items were decent enough considering it's chow hall style. At the swim up bar, they serve drinks in small dixie-cup sized plastic glasses. I watched the bartender literally throw out the old beer from one glass, rinse it under the faucet one time, and refill the same cup with another beer and hand the glass to a different patron. Disgusting! The professional drinkers (hat tip to my Canadian friends) were there with their own XL sized travel mugs which the bar seemed more than happy to refill.

Entertainment Comments: Different themes running every night. Most of the action is at the Eden H property located closer to the beach. Golf cart shuttle will take you back and forth or there is a well-lit walking path. Evening dining supposedly has a dress code. I saw many beautiful ladies wearing classy Caribbean evening attire. It was nice. But sprinkled in the mix were some real low-class “gentlemen” with open shirts or tank-tops exposing their tattoos while wearing flip-flops and bathing-suit style shorts. Take away: dress code is not enforced. Snorkeling, kayaking, hobie-catting, etc all available and free to use. Casino and disco on the Eden H side. I didn’t tip at meals or at the bars. Service was average. Always a smile though. Internet pass is good for 10-hours and free. Mine ran out and they gave me another at the front desk. Multiple hot spots throughout the property require you to bring your wifi password with you as you’re constantly being logged off the server every time you walk to a different part of the resort or your device goes to sleep (PC/iPad/iPhone).

Hotel Comments: Ok, first of all, the older posts are of the Punta Cana Resort and not the Now Larimar. I just got back from 4 days/3 nights here(stuck during Hurricane Irene) The Now Larimar is An all-inclusive resort on the north shore and the all-inclusive is included in our contract:) The van ride is about 20-25minutes, I would give the rooms and the hotel 4/5 stars. rooms #s ending in >60 will be in the 'Preferred' rooms, which includes jacuzzi tubs on the patios, their own 2 private pools and 2 pool bars and separate dining area for the carnival buffet. I got a 'preferred' room once. I have heard of some crews that were pulling up to the hotel in the van and the hotel tells the driver to take them(us) next door to Secrets, Dont worry LET THEM. Secrets is the Sister resort next door for adults only(4.5/5 rooms,4/5 food and beverage} top shelf, drink menus, waitresses on the beach. If you can and you are stuck at Now, try to sneak over to Secrets for the day, their are no wrist bands at either. WIFI, when you check in tell them you want wifi, they will give you a voucher, take it to the business center and give to the attendant who will print out a ticket with the user/pw to get on the net for 10 hrs(be sure to turn off your connection when done, it doesnt include the computers in the business center, just wifi. If you need a computer, the concierge across from the checkin desk has two you can use, plus their is beverages/snakes too. when you leave be sure to go to the front desk and get a 'checkout card' to give to the valet guys when you get on the van. the union stated the hotel charges around $68 to bring another person, if it wasnt for that checkout card you wouldn't have to worry about that, also if you bring someone the departure tax is around $90usd.

Dining Comments: The food and beverage 3/5, no top shelf drinks El Presidente draft and Corona bottles. food at the beach buffet is hard to find fresh. the Carnival buffet, open for brekf, lunch, dinner, is good(not great) they have several sit down restaurants currently a Hibachi, French, American. they did have a steak house but they turned it into the Hibachi. They prefer pants and collared shirt, they arent too strict, we wore nice shorts. at all the resteruants try to stay with the freshly made food exp: omelet station, grill and the beach, etc. for the better food. if you tip a buck you can get the beach waitresses to come back, don't have to tip if your over at Secrets

Entertainment Comments: The all-inclusive includes snorkle, kayak, wind surfing, and 30min hobbie cat reservation. the reservations for the cat start at 9:30 am for that day only (one cat res/day) if it is busy. all the dark shaded areas in the water are sea grass beds, so snorkeling lame. if you see the water breaking about 1/4 mile out, thats the reef, if you could only have a friend take you out on the cat and find someone bring you back. another option, take the kayaks out there just need a 5' line to tether the kayak while you snorkle. We Scuba dived while we were their, I don't recommend it, no color on the 'reef' 20'vis at the most, plus they charge 60 for 1 tank and 90 for 2. there is a small casino with $5 6 deck BJ and roulett and slots. they also have a theme show each night.

Hotel Comments: This place stinks. Hotel in disrepair, little things not looked after. For instance, door jamb to my room looked like it had been broken into several times (splintered wood, doesn't open close correctly, etc). Sink faucet pretty beat up and leaking. Weak water pressure (NO, you still CAN'T drink the water). Sliding doors cheap and constantly coming off tracks. Pool marcite in need of repair, plus lots of cracked tiles around pool perimeter. WIFI in lobby and pool area only - extremely laggy and slow. Skype worked sometimes, Vonage was pointless. No, you can't get a room adjacent to the pool that is able to grab a signal off the pool very well, despite the claims of the front desk. Beds, while they look newer, are hard as a rock. AC in the room worked, but makes a ton of noise and has 2 settings - ON full blast, or OFF.

Dining Comments: Expensive and below average. Crews get a discount (20% at pizza shack, 15% everywhere else), but they take the discount AFTER they apply a 16% resort tax and 10% "propina legal." Hot dog at beach grill $9 USD, hamburger $12 USD, just to give you some idea, comes with fries. Beers are $6 USD for the local "Presidente" Dominican brew, Coronas and other domestics $8 USD and up. Breakfast in the morning is free, the usual spread and decent enough.

Entertainment Comments: Didn't check out the non-motor water sports, so can't comment on pricing there. All other resort type stuff around (golf, tennis, etc). Work out room is so-so. You are on a property that has essentially nothing else adjacent to it, so they have you here as a captive audience, so to speak. The ability to buy party supplies off property and/or food is extremely limited. On the drive in from the airport, you pass nothing but other compound-style resorts, so good luck.

Hotel Comments: Nice Hotel, Beds are very worn. Internet in lobby and around pool. DO NOT DRINK THE WATER IN ROOM. All the water is not potable even the water used for cooking cleaning etc will get you sick.

Dining Comments: Limited to resort places / expensive... Morning breakfast is free, buffet very nice. Beer $4.00 a piece. Again; DO NOT DRINK WATER!

Entertainment Comments: All non motorized water activities are free. Really cool fresh water lagoons in the woods to swim in. Get mask & snorkel at rental area (free). Beautiful beach!
