Interview experience:
I met one of the PSA Personnel Recruiters at a job fair on May 1, 2008. Since I had my Dispatcher License and was immediately available, she set up an interview for May 5th at the Operations Control Center at DAY (Dayton International) with the Dispatch Manager. There was no written or even formal verbal testing. I spoke with the Dispatch Manager for about 20 minutes. We went over my prior job experience, most of which is not aviation related, other than being in the USAF. However being a Private Pilot helps considerably. We briefly discussed my Dispatcher School, Airline Ground Schools (AGS), which PSA uses to train their internal employees. I think that helped, since they are familiar with the school. I then went and sat with one of the Dispatch Supervisors/Trainers for about 30 minutes. When I went back in with the Dispatch Manager, we talked briefly and he offered me the job. I accepted and started training a week later. 5 Internal employees and one other external new hire are in various phases of training. They are currently short handed, so there is a big emphasis on getting the students/new hires thru training.
