Interview experience:

This was an invitation only interview held at the Pan Am Training Center in Miami. There were about 30 people there. The first part of the interview was an introduction to the company. There were about 10 plus interviews and observers in the room. Then we were divided into two groups. Each group had two interviews plus observers. Human Resources, Director of INflight....all kinds of folks. In this small group we had to stand up and talk about ourselves and answer two questions... What do you think you can bring to Miami Air? And unfortunately I can't remember the other one. A big deal was if you could swim. They asked everyone several times if they could swim. the other thing they were looking for was a second language and previous flight attendant experience. Considering that they only pay $1060 per month, they required a lot of experience. We were told that we would be called for a second interview if they were interested. I was called the next day. Things that were unattractive about Miami Air is that you must provide your own suitcase and raincoat. You have to pay $400 up front toward the cost of the $800 uniforms. Not a lot of pieces of uniform for that amount of money. Training is 4 weeks in Miami....no houseing unless they hire you at an out of state interview for the Cincinnati base. Don't get me wrong, they are very nice and the flying sounds interesting. But it would be pretty difficult if you have a family and other obligations. You could think that you were going on a two day trip and end up being gone a week by being reassigned. I turned it down....as did others..they all went to Spirit Air!
