FREE Trans States Airlines Flight Attendant Interview Information and Gouge
Interview experience:
The four open house sessions for Richmond was held over 2 days at a hotel near RIC. When I came in the hotel the front desk person told me which conference room to go to. When I got to the room the recruiter and the FA were at the door. I signed in on a clipboard with my name and contact info and then they measured my height. You had to be shorter than 5'8" to be considered for employment. If you were too tall or too short (below 5 feet I think) you were told that you weren't qualified and they wouldn't be able to hire you. After that they handed out a very long employment application where you had to list your 10 year employment history, education history, etc. They gave us about 30 minutes to complete that. Next the recruiter started off by giving a brief history of the company, describing how the airline operates, explained pay and benefits, work scheduling, training, uniforms, and general lifestyle. Trans States guarantees you 72 hours of pay every month. The base salary is $16.50 per hour, plus $1.15/hour per diem. They wanted everyone to make sure that they could live on the low salary. She also went over some of the requirements: no criminal record, must be able to swim, must have flown before, must have a valid driver's license. If you didn't meet these requirements... GOODBYE! The recruiter spoke to us for about 40 minutes and the flight attendant talked to us for around 5 minutes about her experiences so far as a FA. Then it was time for the one on one interviews. They did them in the hotel lobby's breakfast area. Both the flight attendant and the recruiter took people back. I was interviewed by the flight attendant. She asked very basic questions while looking over my application. She asked why I wanted to be a flight attendant, what's the foremost duty of a flight attendant, what would I do if a passenger was extremely upset and angry, etc. Just very basic questions that I was prepared for by reading the other interview gouges on this website. I guess she found everything to be satisfactory, and she asked me if I would like to join Trans States for the August 23, 2004 Training Class. I accepted of course! She gave me a pre-training packet with route maps, US maps, airport 3-letter codes, state and airline abbreviations, and the Jetstream 41 safety announcement. I will be tested on all this during the first week of training. FYI-- the salary at Trans States is the lowest out of all the airlines, but the company seems to be growing and I think their future looks very promising.to get the remaining 4 gouges on Trans States Airlines.
