Interview experience:
Okay... So the girl below who typed out everything has it right. It went down the same way she described. Now... I made it all the way to the drug test and am now just waiting to hear if I got the job. I think I did really well. That said. Let me just talk a little bit about how I was turned off by this company. The 4 women who did the interviewing process, were rude as all get out, and only one of them made eye contact with me while doing the interview. They pretend as if they are jotting down "notes" about each person, but I found it very disrespectful and very, very, very rude. LOOK AT SOMEONE WHILE THEY SPEAK! If you are taking notes - FINE - but have the decency to look up at LEAST a few times during a 3-4 min speech. One of the white women who was in on the interviewing process, looked like she walked straight out of a trailer park. The whole time I was speaking in front of everyone, I was looking at her horrible blond hair. Someone needs to tell her to step OUT of the 80's. AquaNet and Big hair are NOT in anymore. Her face, was not that of one I would like to see serving me on ANY flight. Rude and disgusting. They admitted a late attendee because his flight from Los Angeles was LATE, because of THEIR flight attendants. Something they openly admitted. Which is either good, or bad. Talk about letting everyone know NOT what to do as a flight attendant. Horrible 1st Impression, and Horrible SECOND impression when they announced this. I was NOT amused. I was very turned off by the entire interview process, but each time I made it a step further, I pretty much decided to stay where I was at and just see what happens. During the last interview, I made a comment about how I feel that eye contact was a must, not only when providing customer service, but even when dealing with someone one on one - It's the respectful thing to do, the LEAST you can do lol I probably shouldnt have said that, but now I am glad that I did. Lets just say it got their attention. I may or may not get the job based on that comment alone, but I have a full time job now and am perfectly content with continuing my search for a flight attendant position with another, more respected airline. They carry the Delta logo, something I'm sure Delta wouldn't be happy with if they knew how unprofessional the corporate office staff was. So many people spoke about how important "Diversity" was. I can tell you from what I saw in that office building and in my interviewing class - it was not diverse at all. Gay, Straight, Black, White, Male, Female - That is diversity. The only thing I saw was Straight, Black Women. While there is nothing wrong with that, I found it quite offensive. The people who interviewed were all white, except for one, who seemed very sweet. Why not hire a MALE for your corporate office? ASA does not seem like its affiliated with delta AT all. Delta is very Male friendly. VERY Gay friendly. I was not enticed at all by anything that happened during my entire 9 hour interviewing day lol If I do receive an offer, I am probably going to ask for it in writing, decline the offer once I receieve my letter, and then report this to Delta, who is now running all of their ground operations in Atlanta. ASA has a HUGE responsibility for using the Delta logo. Something I feel that is not really a big deal at all to them. Delta strives to be the "on time" airline, and ASA mucked that up yesterday before EVERY interviewees eyes - they openly admitted that they have flight attendants who obviously do not respect their jobs. If they don't respect their jobs, how can they expect new hires to feel any differently? I also found it amusing, yet disrespectful how they came in to do the "first round cut" - they posted a computer generated list on the white board of the names of people who made it to the next step. The lady gave a speech about how if you were not selected you can reapply in 6 months, and that it is ASA policy to not speak about WHY you didn;t make it to the next step. She did however, state that they would be outside the door to answer any questions anyone had regarding ASA. After I spotted my name on the list I stepped outside the conference room to use the restroom. Those 4 women who were "standing outside the door" made a mad dash for it so they wouldn't have to encounter anyone who was not selected. How shady. That also turned me off, but had to laugh at it because there were two people who were visably upset they didn't make it, Get OVER it, it's JUST an interview. I think I was more miffed about the fact that I couldn't ask one of them where the bathroom was, instead I had to ask some maintenance guy who appeared around the corner. Wasn't impressed. :P
