Interview experience:
I attended a group interview in August. I couldn't believe how many people arrived in "street clothes"! Please, show repsect for the company you're interviewing with and wear a suit! We all filled out our basic info and then were brought into a room where we had to get organized in alphabetical order by last name. After that we sat down and were introduced to the recruiters. We were then taken into another room where they spoke about pay, benefits, bases, etc. We took a break (remember, you're ALWAYS being evaluated!!!) After the break, one by one we went up front gave our name, something interesting about ourselves and why we wanted to work for Southwest. After we took a piece of paper from a basket that had an inflight announcment and read it in front of the group. After we held a tray of cups and had to walk around a mock up of a plane. We were told that those of us invited to one-on-one interviews would find out by email and those who don't make it will also find out by email within a few business days. I got an email about 3 weeks later inviting me to a one-on-one interview. I went to the interview, had finger prints done and had my one-on-one done by a current Southwest flight attendant. After I had another one-on-one by a recruiter. Both went very well and they made me feel very, very comfortable. The questions are pretty random so just be prepared to answer a lot of work experience type questions. I honestly cannot tell you what they're looking for because some people who I thought for SURE would be hried weren't. I didn't think that I had a chance, but I made it through. My biggest words of advice are...BE YOURSELF AND DON'T BE FAKE because they can see right through it. Southwest is a wonderful company and I am proud to be a part of the family! P.S.- I had NO internal referral so you do not need to know someone within the company to get an interview.
