Air Cargo Carriers Pilot Interview:
I drove up to KMKE for the interview the night before and stayed at the Clarion hotel where they recommended. The interview site was a little hard to find, you have to go to a security hut on College Ave, there is an F-4 Phantom where the turn in is at, and is located in an old military complex where the 440 wing use to be located.
The interview started out with a 50 question instrument test right out of the Gliem instrument study guide. I had a 2009 version but the questions were still the same, and most of the questions were from ch 6, and there was one question that was about NTSB 830. What is considered an aircraft accident?
The next part of the interview was with Tim, the director of training and a really laid back guy. We drove down to the sim room and hopped in the sim, which was the cocktail replica of the Shorts 360. He had me take off runway heading to three thousand. He set all the powers and I didn't have to make any call outs. Next was steep turns left or right my choice, once again he set the power all I had to focus on was maintaining altitude and roll out on the same heading. After that I was given headings to fly for vectors to the ILS 22 at KLGA I believe. Tim set the powers and flaps all I had to do was fly the needles, and at minimums I broke out and was cleared to land, I was told not to worry about the landing he just wanted to see if I could land the sim without crashing it. I was told it's not the best sim and not to worry about the landing. After that is was off to the panel interview with Tim, George the chief pilot and Steve the director of training with the usual HR question. Why you, why ACC etc. A few tech question if you had a static wick missing on the ailerons that has three and the Mel says you can have one missing but not the one on the end and the leading edge was the one missing what could you do. Answer have maintenance take one of the other two and move it to the last one. There is a squall line of thunderstorms over KSDF and you are scheduled to arrive there at the time the thunderstorms were there what could you do?answer go most of the way and land at an airport close wait it out then continue to KSDF. I was offered the job the same day and had to go get the piss test and fill out the PRIA paperwork.
