Interview experience:

Called about 3 weeks prior to my Interview date. Flew down the day before from a AirTran City (Midway) on a pass. Stayed at their recommended hotel on my own dime. Next morning was down to catch the 0715 shuttle to the AirTran facility. Arrived at 0730 and was met immediately by a receptionist who gave us (8 total) Visitor badges and was led to the cafeteria. An HR representative came in to tell us we would start at 0800 and to relax and breathe. A few minutes later a guy came in the back door to the cafeteria and chatted with us for a few minutes putting us at ease and as we found out about a half hour later, he was the Chief Pilot. Once we were in the briefing room, we were given the stack of paper work to complete along with a bottle of water. Then HR gave us a briefing about the company and all through the process made us feel real relaxed and at ease. Then the Chief Pilot came in and briefed us on the process and whats happening at AirTran to include crew bases, growth, etc. and also told us they were running a class of 20 each month until Mar or Apr of 2011. Again, real relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. Then we were called out in pairs, one going to the Chief Pilot (B717 guy) and one HR person and the other going to the B737 Chief Pilot and one HR person. Very laid back, Tell us about your past (following outline of your resume). Then some "Tell me about", "Why do you want to work here" "Why should I hire you" the typical questions about "any, training failures, DUIs Felonies, etc. All said and done was about a 30 minute interview and I was on my way to the airport by about 1230 for a 130pm return flight. No sim check, no technical questions, just a relaxed atmosphere. I was called by the Chief Pilot exactly one week later asking me if I was still interested and was offered a position. My class date is about a month and a half away. If you haven't figured it out yet, this was a class act interview which was very laid back but professional and totally kept you at ease. Good Luck to anyone who is lucky enought to interview.
