Interview experience:

Glad to see Avantair growing to a point that they have their own space on AI.com! Interviewed with the D.O., D. of Training and a couple of senior line pilots. Very relaxed atmosphere and very cordial experience. Many HR questions; why Avantair, what do you know about the company, what do you know about the Piaggio, tell me about a time you...... Stuff like that. Technical questions involved some approach plates. Aspen was one. Weather is X, can you shoot the approach? How would you set up for this approach and at what speed? Clouds reported in AGL or MSL? A little multi-engine aerodynamics. All in all a good experience. 13 airplanes now with a contract of one at least every 45 days for the next few years. This time last year they only had a few planes and a handful of pilots. About 50 pilots now and hiring again in Dec. and Jan.. They'll be RVSM and 135 the start of next year and they're short pilots now. Looking for "Captain material" mainly (time, proficiency and attitude). They need help to make the company grow and promise good things to those that do so. Pay is okay, FOs start at 25k and Capts. at 40k with a 4k raise after 6 months. Then pay based on merit after a year. No seniority ladder yet. 7 on/5 off right now, but may change in the future. (7/7 or 8/6?) All in all a good experience and a chance to get in on the ground floor of something that could become pretty big.
