Evergreen International Airlines Pilot Interview:

Got a call followed with a letter from Evergreen Intl Airlines to show for an interview. They operate 12 747's (Classics) with as of 10/2005 (5) 747-400's on order to include the new LCF for a Boeing contract. Six of us showed up at 0745 to start the process. First was a short company introduction by the HR gals (very nice to deal with) then we filled out a TON of paperwork which included an application and PRIA forms etc, they will do a pretty good background check (DOD and AMC carrier) Have your logbooks and history up to date, they want a 10 year employment and 15 year previous address history, so if you have time record all this stuff before hand and you will be way ahead of the game. This took about 1-2 hours then we took a short test that covered 121 operations and some Federal Government questions, any ATP will do fine on the test, study the Test Preps and you will be golden, most guys only missed 2-3 questions and one guy scored a 100% The background on the group consisted of a furlouhged Legacy Major Airline (United and Delta) and Military USAF Tanker guys, overall a pretty sharp group and I imagine that it is getting competitive, when the word gets out about the expansion planned with a possible 18 month 747 Captain upgrade it will probably become fierce.

After the test we went to meet (as a group) with one of the management pilots who gave a a pretty long brief on the Company and history, we then went for a Drug Test and then it was over to the Museum for lunch and a look at the Spruce Goose (among other nice toys in the hangar :} ) that for me was the best part!

After all this we then went back to the office for the board interview, I met with the Chief Pilot, PFE Chief, and Director of safety, very nice and relaxed, just wanted to get to know you, and a lot of tell me about a time etc..After about 30 minutes I was asked to proceed over to the V.P. of Flight Operations and meet with him, this guy was really impressive and seems to be moving the company in the right direction he is retired from United and flew the 747-400 and 777 over at UAL, I think he might have been a Chief Pilot for UAL as well, anyway he seems to be very positive towards his pilots and wants Evergreen to be a career rather than a stepping stone. I would say that the interview with him was probably the most important because he has final say.

Overall I would say study your Interview prep books, have all your paperwork up to date, epsecially your logbooks, one guy in our group was "not up to speed" and he stuck out like a sore thumb--just my words of advise. This will be my 5th airline and I am not 35 yet! Hopefully I have found a home! Good luck to all!
