Interview experience:

It was a very nice informal style interview - part informative seminar( company overview, benefits, flight operations, etc), part actual exam started at 08:00 at St.Paul Airport old terminal building. Class size usually up to 10 people( I was with 5 other candidates) per day( one day process). Interview was conducted by one HR person and one Captain/Recruiter. Besides informative part, there were 3 written tests( multiple choice): one on general knowledge( math, logic ect. - timed - most people run out of time because you need to make some calculations), aeronautical knowledge( also timed, but everybody made it - not too hard but study impact of icing on Vmc), and personality test( not timed). Then there were 2 one on one interviews with HR lady and the Captain. No tough technical questions. Why do you want to fly for us? What is your flying background? What traits a good pilot should have? What makes you a good pilot? What would you do if your captain was drunk? They have not even looked at my logbooks. After that there was a simulator evalutaion( AST-300: generic twin HSI/RMI/R-NAV) at a school next door( you may practice there before your intervie and it is really worth it). They are using Phoenix, AZ( I did St. John's SID/runway 8L/8R approaches); Seatle, WA and one more area either Houston or Dallas, TX. The profile was as follows: SID departure, vectors, DME arc( if you not familiar with R-NAV the examiner will help you to set it up), VOR approach( watch your altitude - the altitude of the entry segment of an approach might be higher than the initially assigned altitude), missed, NDB hold, vectors, ILS approach, landing( not graded). They are looking for procedures. No failures or single engine operation just basic IFR skill. Let them see you doing checkes( after departure, before landing). You need to switch the radios like if it was for real: ATIS, clearance, ground, tower and approach( the examiner will play as a controller). Make sure all com/nav frequencies are set up before you take off. Overall nice interview( nice people, good company to work for), too bad I did not get the job. I might try again.
