PenAir Pilot Interview:

Interview was over the phone due to distance. First asked what I knew of the company. They are the largest regional airline in Alaska. Have about 120 pilots and fly Metro, Saab, Caravan, Goose, Saratoga, plus a few others.  Asked me to tell about yourself.  Any FAA accidents or incidents Failed any FAA check rides. What emergencies have you had and how did you worked it out?  HR stuff "you are a new pilot with a senior pilot and he did something that goes against company policy What do you do? Asked about me coming up to Alaska and if I could handle it due to change in weather and environment . From what I gather, being current IFR is a big issue due to weather up in Alaska. Also flying a NDB as they use them. Said had problems with new pilot hires, that I didn't know how to fly a NDB approach or hold.

I was interviewed for the Metro or Saab. Duty time is four days on, three days off. Pay at this time is $1,100/mth plus $11/hr flight time  plus $100/mth for safety.  If you are not current enough then to the Caravan. Pay is  $10/hour and two week on (housing provided) and two weeks off. . Paid for eight hours per day even if you don't fly. Upgrade is based on how well you do and not on when you get hired. You have to pay for your airfare to get up there and look after yourself when in training. (hotel room and food)  It has been over three weeks now, and no word from them.

Sounds like a good company to work for and an experience to go up there.
