Why am I doing this?
Aviation Interviews' job fairs were born as a lower-cost alternative to expensive aviation industry job fairs. Having been a CFI for several years, I knew what it was like to live on a tight budget, and job fairs that cost $200 just to walk in the door put good jobs and good prospects out of my reach.
I started our web site, AviationInterviews.com, in 2001, and since then it has grown to more than 39699 registered members. Some of the web site members asked me if I could conduct a job fair at a more affordable cost. After making some rough cost calculations, I set out with the idea of having a job fair in which the cost to attendees would be just enough to cover expenses. I decided that any money left over from the fair would go into a scholarship fund.
Today, the leftover funds from our job fairs added to member donations and income derived from our web site have enabled us to donate more than $174,000 in scholarships to 49 winners. Click here to see the list of 2009 scholarship winners. In 2010 alone, we expect to give away in excess of $12,000. Through the web site, the job fairs, and the scholarship fund, we have created a service designed to benefit our members. There is no greater feeling than knowing that what we've done has made a difference in people's lives, so the words of thanks mean a lot to us. (To read some of our members' comments, click here).
If you haven't already become a member, we invite you to join and take advantage of the benefits we offer. You can join here. You're welcome to register for our next job fair as well.
