FREE Big Sky Airlines Pilot Interview Information and Gouge

Interview experience:
This is for an open call session that Big Sky conducted this past weekend (Oct 05-06). I showed up in the afternoon on Saturday. They had two rooms setup for the interviews. The first room was just a waiting room with one of their Captain's (Jeff) there to answer any questions about the company and to give general information. I sat in there for a couple of hours talking to the other applicant's and talking to Jeff about the company. When it was time, Stig (Cheif Pilot) called us in one-by-one for an oral interview. There was no written test, and no sim session. He started out with general HR questions. Describe yourself in 2 minutes, why big sky, career goals, notible accomplishments, 3 words to describe yourself as a pilot, etc... It was just Stig and he kept the whole process very laid back and comfortable. Following the HR questions, he moved on to the Technical questions. Which engine is critical in your aircraft, why? What is VMC, and what do you do if airspeed falls below it? Then several questions on Jepp approach and enroute charts. HINT: Look at the chart. Most of his questions were regarding restrictions or specific definitions that are written directly on the chart your looking at. A couple that I got that weren't written on the chart were: highest terrain on the plan view of a NOC chart (look for the arrow), minimums and circling distances for cat c aircraft. That's all I can remember now. Stig offered me the job at the end of the interview with a training date of October 25th. Big sky is a good company that is growing a lot right now. They said they are looking for approximately 50 more pilots within the next 6 months to a year, and most of the FO's are upgrading as soon as they meet ATP minimums. Good luck, and I hope to see you in Montana!
