FREE Era Aviation Pilot Interview Information and Gouge

Interview experience:
Hello there, Well my experience was wonderful! I showed up early to the front desk and was told to wait in the lounge for the CP to call me for the interview. About 20 minutes after my show time Jeff Sharp (Chief Pilot) came down and called me up for the interview. The interview consisted of 2 people, the DHC-6 SOF (Rob Myers) and Jeff Sharp (CP). Usually the DO participates, but was called off to a meeting shortly before the interview. I was seated at the conference table and handed my interview packet over to Jeff for a review of my resume, if I meet minimums and everything else I included. My Interview packet consisted of my pilot certificate, FCC Operators Permit, Drivers License, Medical, Resume, LOR’s and of course my logbook. Once Rob and Jeff reviewed my information I was asked a number of questions. I was asked to give 5 adjectives that best describe me as a person; also I was asked what my negative traits were. In between questions we chatted about flying and what I have been doing in the last couple of weeks, month and year. Jeff looked over my past employment history and asked me some questions about some of my previous jobs, be prepared to accurately describe your previous duties and technical questions about your job. I heard of one applicant was asked to describe the “Theory of Light”! I guess his resume stated that he was some Physicist Assistant of some sort, so be prepared to answer questions to your previous work experiences! I was also asked what I am doing for a college education, I stated that I am actively pursuing BA degree and plan on to continue, was asked what my grades were like currently and back in High School – Jeff asked if I have ever gotten a “C” in school. The only technical question that I was asked was from Rob Myers, which was: “You are on the ILS at MDA or DH, what do you need to see to land?” I gave him the entire list, he then turns and asks: “if you have the centerline lights, can you land?” Answer is no, its not on the list of the items you need to land – so just a strait forward “no” answers the question. Otherwise the interview was laid back and I really enjoyed it and think it was a wonderful experience. Just be yourself, honest, professional and enthusiastic – that will increase your chances of getting the job. Good Luck!
