Interview experience:
EVA Air flew me to Taipei for the interview at no charge. The accomdation was also free and was on the EVA Air compound. The interview process is a set of stages, and you have to pass each stage to continue to the next day.
Day 1 was the SIM evaluation on the B747-400. It consisted of a normal take off, a departure procedure, some air work like shallow turns and steep turns, followed by a visual approach to a landing. The SIM was then re-positioned for another take off. This time I was given an outboard engine (number 1) failure just after V1. The exercise was to climb out and clean up and run the proper checklists. I was then vectored for a 3 engine ILS to a landing. The air work and visual approach were hand flown with raw data and no autothrottle. The 3 engine ILS was also hand flown with no autothrottle, however I was given the flight director. Roughly 3 hours later I was called in my room and told I would continue to the next day with the written tests.
Day 2 were the written tests. There was an English test and an Aviation knowledge test. The english test had 2 parts and was quite involved. The aviation knowledfe test was HARD. There was a question on the equation for lift, questions on time zones/merideans, and many other types from every facet I could think of. About 2 hours later, they called me in my room to notify me I would continue to the interview.
Day 3 was the interview and it was short and quick (20-25 minutes). I was aked questions on my aviation background, RVSM, RNP, climb performance, ILS's, as well as some questions on the fleet EVA operates. There were a few personal questions thrown in as well. Within 25 minutes of the interview I was told I passed and would continue with the 2 day medical.
Day 4 and 5 were the medical. Really long, they check EVERYTHING. Can't study for this......
Good luck.
