Hotel Comments:
The hotel is not bad. It is, however, as isolated as it can possibly be. Plus side: van ride time approximately 45 seconds.
Places To Eat:
Continental breakfast pretty good, o.k. indoor/outdoor seating. Otherwise, you're out of luck. The van will take you to a small number of restaurants, none of which were specifically recommended by the admittedly less-than-stellar front desk attendant. We tried a chinese buffet place that was actually o.k., if totally without personality ($11 with a Bud Light).
Things To Do:
Took a long walk- really miserably isolated area. In retrospect, I would have run up to my room, changed, and conned the van driver to take me out to the enormous AMARC airplane boneyard (http://www.amarcexperience.com) where they have a tour. You'll see it on the approach if you're coming from the east. There's a strip club called (seriously) "Club Turbulence" about five blocks from the hotel, if you've got the energy and the singles. I am unable to rate this establishment. This time.

Hotel Comments:
Clean, large room with fridge, microwave, free internet. Nice pool area with jacuzzi. Restaurant of some kind next door. Not a bad place but a crappy area. There is nothing around the hotel within walking distance and you wouldn't want to walk to far around there anyway. BTW: my rating is only valid if you are willing to dish out the cash for a rental to get out of the airport vacinity. I think you can rent one for under 20 bucks nearby.
Places To Eat:
Near downtown on N Court Ave. is an awesome Mex restaurant with serious ambiance, called El Charro. Cheap steak house with great food called Pinnacle Peak on E Tanque Verde Rd. (520) 296-0911 The place is decorated like the wild west, cool saloon. Wear a tie :-) More good mexican: La Tortill, 4th ave Los Betos is a Tucson Mex chain that has the biggest/possibly the best burritos you will ever had. Chuy's is a texmex chain located all over the place, they each have their own decor and a fun atmosphere, cheap prices, great margharitas by the pitcher.
Things To Do:
There is lots to do if you rent a car. You can drive to Sabino Canyon or Mt. Lemon for hiking. The drive up Mt. Lemon is stunning. At the top there is a ski area and a small town but I heard most of the town burnt down a couple of yrs ago. The pima air museum is a short drive and has a lot of airplanes to see. There is also the airplane "graveyard" too many acres to count of parked aircraft, you can take a tour of it. Old Tucson is worth the drive if you are into Western movies...most were made there. it's about 45 min drive west of the airport and a cool drive. Univerity of Arizona is huge and the area around the main campus especially University Drive is packed with bars and restaurants. Near downtown on Church St. is an awesome Mex restaurant called El Charro. If you are really ambitious you can drive South to Tombstone..I think its an hour or so drive.
