Hotel Comments:
The only reason I gave it a 9 and not 10 is because they do not give us free internet. HOWEVER for the internet issue: if you've got a long layover and you want to check your e-mail etc. you can take your laptop to Ghirardelli Square and there is free wireless internet inside! Find a bench near a plug and you're in good shape.
Places To Eat:
Fisherman's Wharf one block away. Literally dozens of options.
Things To Do:
I never get bored of long walks around this city. If you've never stood at Alamo Square to get a view of the Painted Ladies, check that out at dusk for an awesome scene that looks like a postcard. Walk across the Golden Gate Bridge (make sure you're back by dark because the walking path closes at night due to suicide jumps), check out Lombard Street (and Filbert Street, two blocks south, is the steepest grade in San Francisco), Coit Tower, Alcatraz, and much more.
