| there's a diner at the bottom of the office buildings to the north and a BBQ place up the street (exit hotel left) just before you come to an upscale steak house. |

| I had the weather and the time to hike up Squaw Peak and it was absolutely awesome. I left at 15:00 and got back before 18:00 all said and done. Rental car at the airport through expedia was $8 plus tax even just an hour before I showed up. Took hotel van to airport and went to the consolidated facility. The drive is short and easy. It's fun exercise and the view is great. Get directions online. Here's info: Piestewa Peak, formerly known as Squaw Peak, is part of the Phoenix Mountains Preserve. The elevation of Piestewa Peak is 2,608 feet; the total elevation gain for the Summit Trail is 1,190 feet. That might not sound high, but hikers of all levels can get a great workout climbing this mountain, and get a great view of the city when they get to the top. The Piestewa Peak Recreation Area is located at 2701 E. Squaw Peak Drive, which is right near 24th Street and Lincoln. | The rooms are comfortable. That is about it for this hotel. The front desk staff is rude and unhelpful. |

| Nothing very close. We walked about 10 minutes down Van Buren to a BBQ joint that was not too bad. |
| Things To Do: |
| Not much, short overnight and nothing in the vicinity. They should get us one closer to Mill Ave. |
