Layovers/Chicago

I love when I have time in Chicago! Deep dish pizza, great museums and parks! Here is a list of must dos (on the cheap) next time you have a long layover in the windy city!

  • The Art Institute: Free Thursday evenings from 5pm until 8pm. They have an amazing collection of art, including Grant Wood’s American Gothic.
  • Millennium Park: A 24.5 acre park that has art sculptures, fountains (great for cooling off in the summer) and free outdoor concerts and exhibits all year round!
  • Chicago Greeter Program: This is an amazing score for anyone on a tight budget (flight attendants!) The Chicago greeter program sets you up with enthusiastic, knowledgeable locals to give you a free 2-4 hour guided tour of the city!
  • Giordano’s Deep Dish Pizza: This is my splurge! I love to walk around Chicago all day! There are so many great freebies and of course taking pictures is always part of the layover. When I’m worn out and hungry, deep dish pizza is a must while here!
