6. What is GRADIENT CLIMB?
   Its about a specific ROC to avoid usually obstacles along the departure route. It relates to climb performance based on how many feet of climb per how many nautical miles traveled forward. Obviously the faster the ground speed the higher the ROC required by the SID, for example: a 5% climb gradient means 5feet up v 100feet forward. In other words, for a 180kts GS it takes 911 feet rate of climb to satisfy the SID requirement.
   It is a required rate of climb predicated on ground speed. In other words, the faster the GS the greater the ROC will be. For example, a departure form HKG RWY 07R requires a 5% ratio which translates into a 925 FPM climb gradient.
