Interview experience:
I had a really hard time finding answers to questions I had on the interview process, so I'm going to be as specific as I possibly can: -Went to open house at a Hotel, there were hundreds of people, you get a quick speech about the company and then are directed to a table where a recruiter gives you a preliminary interview. The questions are very typical questions: Why should we hire you and not anybody else How would you handle an irrate customer Tell me about a time when you solved a difficult problem Have you ever had a problem with a co-worker What are your weekness ...like I said, very typical customer service questions -If the recruiter liked you, you were sent to another table to test your linguistic skills: IT IS MANDATORY THAT YOU SPEAK BOTH FRENCH AND ENGLISH TO BE HIRED BY AIR CANADA -After the language verification you're given a date (2 days later) 2 come in for a 2nd interview which takes about 4 hours. -At the 2nd interview I met with a group of 10 other people applying for the position. First we all were invited to fill out a "personality" questionnaire which consisted of multiple choice answers. It is emphasized not to lie or answer what you think the employer wants to hear because many of the questions are repeated and formatted in different words to trap you, so the best thing is to be honest. -Next you go on a 1 on 1 interview. The interviewer makes it clear that she wants specific examples not theoretical responses. So again, it's very customer service oriented: Tell me about a time when... You disagreed with a policy at work, how did you handle it? You were faced with a crisis at work You were recognized by you peers for outstanding performance. The questions are centered around Team-work, customer service and general personality. Sorry I can't remember most of the questions but if you have customer service experience, you shouldn't have a problem, it's no different than ANY OTHER interview. Please do not go out and buy those dumb books on "How to become a Flight Attendant". -Anyway, next you do a group interview, you're presented with a drastic scenario where all hell breaks loose on you shift. 2 people just sit there and observe how you work out the problem as a team. I don't think it's so much, what you do that counts, but how you treat the other people you're trying to solve the problem with. -After the group, if you're still in good standing you get an appointment to go to the medical which is basically the last hurdle. -At the medical you fill out a questionnaire: Do you do drugs, alcohol, smoke, any health problems...They test your ears, eyes, reflexes, blood test, urine test, the whole nine. And that was my interview experience. I found out later the reason why I didn't get the job; at one point, a recruiter called me the day before my medical and asked me to change it do another day. I had already scheduled something important so I asked to have another date...well, this proved that I was not "flexible" enough to be a flight attendant, therefore, I didn't get job. Well good luck to all of you remember CUSTOMER SERVICE & TEAM WORK and you'll do fine.to get the remaining 7 gouges on Air Canada.
