    • I teach students all day. We operate most flights as a crew, even if they don't realize it. CRM extends beyond the cockpit. I am lucky at L3 to have many people there to help make every flight a success. Dispatchers, flight supervisors, maintenance crew, fuel truck drivers, ATC. They all offer something towards my flight.
  4. 4. (Jul 09, 2025) What would you do if the captain wanted to descend below DA?
    • Do we see the approach lights? If we don't or if the approach becomes unstable, call for go-around.

    • As soon as you have a training spot, my bags are packed and I am ready and qualified

    • I have flown for 33 years , my experience has been flying single and twin engine aircraft, turbo props most of them.My last job was flying for Sander Geophysics for 3 months with Survey Flights. I flew Turbo Commander before and worked Part 121 and Part 135 in Colombia.
    • I started flying back when I was 14 years old and have not stopped since. Began on a Cessna 172. I got my private pilots license through a school called Centennial Aviation Academy at PDK. I attended Middle Tennessee State University and graduated a semester early. I completed Instrument - Multi and also completed my CFI/CFII certificates there.
    • Tell them about YOU they don’t want to hear that all you can talk about is flying. The captain that did my technical said the last thing he wants to talk about when leaving work is flying and wants people who have an identity outside of flying
    • I’m a hard worker a go-getter had a career in law-enforcement where I learned many valuable skills all relatable to flying ; skills such as being a good communicator being a problem solve a critical thinker having good situational awareness all skills which I have been practicing for the last 35 years I’m a go-getter I’m hands-on I like to be out there working. • Yes, I explained what happened and why it happened. Discussed how I learned from it and have used it to my benefit as an instructor
    • No - they then asked what I think contributed to my success: self motivation. I was always nervous about the flight portion of a checkride so I always overcompensated by studying really hard on ground knowledge.
    • Be honest since they will find out anyway. Explain to them in the best detail what happened and what you learned from the experience.

What types of things will be asked in a Simulator or Scenario exercise?

  1. The scenario was a flight from Indianapolis to St. Louis that started at 5AM. We started at the hotel and he asked me how I will assess myself to ensure I am safe for the flight (IMSAFE checklist). After that, he had me read a METAR and TAF, then asked if would need an alt. We did so then he asked about rules for alt in regards to weather (of course the weather he provided made us need an...Continue reading simulator / scenario information..

  2. The technical portion was first It basically went through what I might encounter on a typical flight. He asked the following questions What is the first thing you go over/checklist you run on yourself before you even go to the airport? IMSAFE He sent me a METAR and a TAF that had some nasty weather but no abbreviations I haven’t ever seen before. He asked me to read the METAR. For the TAF, he gave me an ETA and asked if we would need an alternate. It was obvious, 800...Continue reading simulator / scenario information..
