Part 1 is a "simulator" assessment using a PC-ATD. They have a number of point A - to - point B scenarios flying old-school VOR to VOR (you do not have GPS) then fly an instrument approach to a landing / missed approach. They use a quantitative measurement to score the flight. This is a "pass/fail" system. If you pass, you move onto the Hiring Team interview; if you fail, you go home.
