Interview Experiences From Hawaiian Airlines Pilot Interviews :

  1. 1.  (Jul 11, 2025) Everything that has been posted in this forum is pretty true to the process that you’ll experience on the day of the interview. The pilot panel focuses on the TMATW….and the Management panel is focused on your flying experience. I will say that if there are any abnormalities on your resume with respect to aviation, be prepared to provide a very solid reason why. If you didn’t fly for a period of time you need to have a reason that makes sense, things like that. The CRM... Continue reading this interview experience..

  2. 2.  (Jul 10, 2025) A very straightforward and friendly interview. There are three sections HR, pilot panel, & CRM. The HR guys were friendly and specific. After "tell me about yourself" they asked a lot of questions about my background. How have I enjoyed my time at my current carrier and what has been the most challenging part of my career. They asked about a move to Hawaii and fitting the "Hawaiian culture." They openly favor people who live there or are willing to move. The pilot... Continue reading this interview experience..

Study Guide Questions for Your Hawaiian Airlines Interview:

  1. 1. What is your dream job, how does Hawaiian fit that mold?
  2. 2. What would you do if you are the pilot monitoring and see a car crossing the runway during an approach ? What if you call for a go around but the captain is unresponsive?
    • If we heard ATC clear the car to cross, then continue. If the car, under ATC control, clears the runway prior to us crossing the threshold, then continue. If the car enters the runway after we've crossed the threshold, or just when we've broken out a minimums and a transferring to visual references, then initiate a go around/missed approach.
  3. 3. Have you ever gone more than 6 months without flying?
    • Yes, the first time was to serve a church mission and the second was to go a different career path.
  4. 4. (Jul 24, 2025) Tell me about a time you resolved a conflict in the flight deck?
    • Use CRM techniques. Bring someone in between.
  5. 5. (Jul 17, 2025) TMAAT you used CRM to solve a dispute with a coworker
    • No disputes in the airline industry yet. Told them about a time a student was arguing with me in the plane and how I diffused and corrected the situation.
  6. 6. (Jul 19, 2025) Have you had any checkride failures and what did you learn from them?
    • Yes I have, but each and everyone of them has been a great learning experience that has formed me into the professional pilot I am today. With out my failures I do not believe I would be as successful as I am today.
  7. 7. (Sep 30, 2025) Do you have any questions for us?
    • How did you be where you are today? What are your thoughts on the 787 delivery dates? What are common new hire mistakes you have seen/ where do new hires at Hawaiian make mistakes?
  8. 8. (Jul 17, 2025) When have you used CRM?
    • Anytime on duty.
  9. 9. (Jul 23, 2025) Why are you applying to Hawaiian?
    • This is a big one, each interview panel asked this
  10. 10. (Aug 25, 2025) Tell us about your flying career
    • Started out when I was 18, then I quickly got my license thereafter. Then I had to take a break for my church mission. Once I came back, I dove in where I left off. Once I finished all of my ratings, due to personal reasons, I decided the career was not for me, so I went a different direction. But I longed for the skies during that time. 8 years later, I went back to finish everything else and the rest is history.

What types of things will be asked in a Simulator or Scenario exercise?

  1. Our scenario was we were 30 miles west of Honolulu where we intend to land, with an alternate of Maui. There was an emergency aircraft inbound so we were told to hold. We had a little over an hour of fuel and given an efc time that would have us landing just above ifr minimum...Continue reading simulator / scenario information..

  2. I was the only candidate for the morning session, so I was paired with an FO from the 330. She was very friendly, professional and helpful during the SBQ. I got the GEN fail 5 minutes before the ETP, followed by the APU fail. Run...Continue reading simulator / scenario information..
