We've Aviation Professionals Prepare for their Interviews!
  • I was first invited to a phone screen where I was asked about my flight times, medical, etc. followed by a couple HR questions. Why PSA? I answered this with safety culture, good airplanes, and how the "PSA Way" aligns with my personals values. What will you do if you are struggling in training? I explained how I would use extra preparation before sims, utilize group study, and use outside resources such as calling other airlines pilots I know for help. It was a pretty quick phone call and at the end I was invited for the technical, scheduled a week later. The technical interview began with a sheet containing a departure time, arrival time, departure and destination METARs, and a destination TAF. I was asked to decode the...

Applied in Fall and hadn't heard until I went to a conference earlier this year and got picked up from there. Got a call from PSA a few weeks later and scheduled the phone screen. On the phone screen, was asked about flight times, licenses, etc. Then asked HR questions, (view the study guide of this website).  After that, scheduled the technical for a week later. The technical was super short and rapid fire. Verified flight times and documentation again. Was then asked to decode a...

I applied quite a while back. Spoke to some recruiters at the end of last year but did not hear anything until after I talked to them at a recent hiring event. The HR portion is done as a phone screening, then technical is scheduled. I was asked why PSA again and given a scenario about being overweight 3,000lbs. Have your logbook handy because he verified flight time again. Then we proceeded into the technical portion. You are briefing a flight from point a to point b. Mine was DCA to CLT....

I had my application in for a long time but heard no response. I went to a conference and met with them and they got me set up for the phone screening the next day. Be aware that the phone screening is the HR portion of the interview so makes sure you have answers for “Why PSA” “Tell me 3 qualities about yourself” and other HR questions from the study guide. After that I was scheduled for my technical interview one week out and they gave me a study guide. The links...

Started with why PSA, some small talk. Interviewer was friendly and easy to talk to. Jumped into the technical, as he shared his screen to ask questions. Began with METAR/TAF and went through takeoff alternates and if an alt was required. Takeoff alts segued into 10-9A discussion, what is the different equipment required, can we take off based on taf? Went through airport diagram, STAR, Approach Plate. Very straight forward, no real surprises. Know holding procedures (alts, airspeeds, in...

Straight forward. Captain and FO, FO basically ran it. Know how to read METARs and TAFs including remarks. Know Jepps well. Interview for me was mostly point and tell. Didn’t have to brief but started with CLT taxi diagram, then SID, then STAR into DFW then approach. Part 91 Oxygen requirements. Talked about my engine and fuel system. 1-1-2-3 rule. Departure alternates and departing minimums. VMC, critical engine, VX, VY. Super relaxed and they want to see you pass. Only thing I...

Follow the study guide and 121 regs in the study guide. Also study the jepp plates closely and know differences on between jepp and faa charts. Use your mentor if you need to/if you have one. They are there for your help and and a great resource. Study METAR and TAF codes especially rvr and vertical visibility (vv). Study metar-decoder for different airports especially big ones since they have quirky codes. Get ready to explain a system. I explained the fuel system for 30 seconds it was...

The PSA Airlines interview process begins with a short HR screening phone call, typically lasting under 15 minutes. This call is designed to confirm your qualifications, assess your communication skills, and determine if you’re a good cultural fit. One of the key questions to expect is “Why PSA?” You should have a thoughtful, specific answer prepared. At the end of this call, if all goes well, the recruiter will schedule your technical interview. The technical interview is...

First interview is an HR screen phone call. All the questions in the gouge are accurate. Be ready for "Why PSA?" and "What do you look for in a company?" Make sure to have questions ready. HR call is short and sweet (under 15 minutes). During the HR call they schedule the technical interview, which is over Microsoft Teams with a pilot. The technical was straight to the point: 15 minutes of rapid fire IFR questions as seen in the gouge. METAR & TAF (know all the codes,...

First call I got from the recruiter, that was HR questions: phone screening. Went over times. Asked about "why PSA"- talk about safety & the culture & the bases you really like. If you live around the area, express that the bases are local & you love that. Was asked "If you show up to van in the morning after an overnight, you smell alcohol on the CA breath, what would you do". The answer to that would not be to report them right away. First express concern to...
