We've Aviation Professionals Prepare for their Interviews!
  • I applied to Tradewind using their online job application as soon as the First Officer position opened  this year. I received an email from one of their pilot recruiters several weeks later asking to arrange an HR screening. We discussed my flight experience to date on Microsoft Teams. The second round of interviews consisted of a technical interview via Microsoft Teams. I studied for this interview as I did for my instrument practical test. I also practiced briefing instrument approaches and tried to ask myself questions about various instrument procedures in the northeastern United States. I also reviewed weather theory and about weather products, as I was expected to know not only the "rote-level" knowledge, but I was also expected to apply these concepts to different scenarios....

It was a nice interview experience, I was asked Technical questions, (view the study guide of this website).  KBOS LOGAN FOUR Departure, KLKP Departure, KHPN ILS...

The interview was very straightforward. It began with the HR portion, which was relaxed and conversational. The main goal was to get to know you as a person and review your flight time and background. My advice is to be yourself. The second portion was the technical interview, which aligned closely with what others have described. Be solid on your IFR knowledge it essentially felt like an IFR oral exam. Topics included the pitot-static system, gyroscopic instruments, associated failures, and...

HR was pretty straight forward, same questions as listed on here from previous people. A lot of talking about flight experience and expectations for the company and future goals, how you heard about them. Technical was an IFR checkride: know STARS, SIDs,  They had me write down weather info, craft clearances, and looking at certain plates. I was allowed to use the FAA plates on foreflight, you don't have to use Jep charts. Airports given: KRUT and KTEB 4 dep climb via SID. Any...

HR interview started well. Got a short introduction to the company. Was asked about flight experience (airplanes flown, airports flown out of), education including flight training, what got me into flying, etc. Was asked about current documents as well (passport, first class medical, etc.). Finally got to how many stage checks or check rides were unsat. I responded with 3 and the interview was over. The interviewer said they only allow a maximum of two failures. I disclosed this during the...

Process was exactly as they say. HR interview was very straight forward and they just want to see if you are a good person to represent their company. The second interview you should definitely study IFR procedures and have a good working knowledge of the instrument flying system. the final sim interview consists of a SID, steep turns in IMC, ILS app to a miss, VFR traffic pattern. there not looking for perfection but rather a good understanding of instrument...

HR is basically straight forward same questions as the app, the technical need to study IFR knowledge approaches departure holdings and the sim interview is in a g1000 simulator very sensitive. Take off in imc whit instrument departure procedure climb for step turns and after that they give you vector por and approach to the minimum go miss has published hold on the publish hold and then VFR back to the...

The HR interview is very straightforward! Itâ??s a simple one on one conversation focused on getting to know you as an applicant and confirming that you meet the companyâ??s minimum qualifications. If your qualifications align with what theyâ??re looking for, youâ??ll move on to the technical interview, which closely reflects the material covered on this website. In my experience, I was asked foundational G1000 questions (such as identifying the HSI and selecting a departure procedure),...

The HR interview went as expected. They asked questions about flight time, goals, and why Tradewind. The technical portion was rather unstructured compared to how I run the tech interviews at my current company. They gave me a ATIS and clearance to copy. The ATIS was missing temp/dewpoint and Altimeter setting. The craft was Logan 4 departure out of BOS to a fix and then as filed. They asked questions about how I would depart and what happened if I lost comms. Easy questions for an...

HR: Very straightforward. Be honest about wanting the airlines in the future and about any checkride failures. Come with your hours totaled and be ready to accept relocation. Technical: Mostly IFR oral and procedures. Know your six-pack, pitot-static and gyro instruments. Expect incomplete ATIS and be ready to say whatâ??s missing. WRITE DOWN CRAFT, donâ??t rush your answers, and read everything carefully (IAPs, SIDs, ODPs, holds, speeds, VFR/IFR charts, and what youâ??d do if your...

HR interview was real straight forward just to get to know you as a person. The technical interview was just like an instrument checkride and being proficient is key. The emphasis was on briefing approach/ departure plates. Be thorough on each plate reference the notes on elements that may or may not have been left out in the ATIS/ CRAFT clearance. All in all the whole technical is scenario based and specific to the northeast. Once you make it to the sim eval ensure you are proficient with...

It was very helpful to be able to focus my studies and simulator practice on specific areas, rather than feel overwhelmed over studying every possible bit of aeronautical knowledge.
