FREE Kalitta Air pilot interview information and gouge

Interview was very similar to what was described. Everyone very nice and welcoming. A Kalitta shuttle picks you up at ~745 am from the Holiday Inn Express. You say a quick 'hi' to the HR room, before they bring you to an upstairs classroom which is basically the holding tank while you wait for the various parts of the interview to take place. This room was very well catered....muffins, croissants, Danishes, fruits, drinks. There were a couple HR folks who were with us the entire day, plus various Kalitta training / management people would pop in periodically to say hi and mingle. There was also a very nice catered lunch from a local sub shop that was delivered at noon. The... Continue Reading this Interview Experience

  1. Mar 09, 2021 Interview was easy and seemed like a great company. I don’t think I had the international experience or a history of extended length trips that would have made them feel comfortable hiring me. Aptitude test as previously described. Aptitude test means compass test by the way. Joystick and rudder pedals to follow FD and slip skid. Some math questions. Long division, multiplication, percentages, decimals, one geometry question, basic algebra. If Y = 7 whats the value of X style Of... Continue reading this interview experience

  2. Mar 09, 2021 Much like previously reported in terms of the process. There were 10 of us, most had heavy AC experience flying as Ex-Pats for JAL etc, and two had US regional background. First half of the day was compass testing for all of us, then we ate lunch then each person was pulled one at a time for the interview. The Compass testing is hard! The math test is surprisingly not multiple choice (!), and is timed, and included division/geometry/time distance/percentages etc. There is a pilot... Continue reading this interview experience

  3. Mar 09, 2021 The whole process is very seamless. Everyone that we met was above and beyond friendly. When I say friendly, I mean genuinely. I strongly believe that they want to hire everyone, however, they are not just going to give it to you. You need to show up ready to perform on a level that stands you apart from the norm and shows you are ready to take a job flying heavy jets internationally. The compass test is not difficult, but it is about 3.5 hrs. Math by hand (NOT Multiple Choice, basic 5th... Continue reading this interview experience

  4. Feb 02, 2021 Interview was very relaxed. Even though the email said "business casual", the majority was in full suit and tie. The only casual side to my dress was a skinny tie. Plan ahead: wake up early enough to get breakfast. The shuttle leaves at 8:40 and takes you directly to the Kalitta Air building. There were about 20 of us, and they split us up into 2 groups: the first half did the paperwork and the HR panel interview, the second half did the compass test/verbal reasoning test. I was in... 5. Feb 02, 2021 Phone call was received 10 days before the interview and confirmation email was sent 5 days before the interview then follow by the drug test instruction. All interviewees, new comers, recurrent pilots are now staying at TownePlace Suites located at  Belleville, MI. Call the hotel for "Pre-Arranged" hotel shuttle from the airport. There is a restaurant 5 mins walk if u don't mind the cold.  Room was booked for 3 days/2nights. You pay your way to DTW. A Passenger van... Continue reading this interview experience

  6. Feb 02, 2021 Interview was very relaxed. Even though the email said "business casual", the majority was in full suit and tie. The shuttle leaves at 8:40 and takes you directly to the Kalitta Air building. Most of the people interviewing were downstairs about 8:30am. There were about 20 of us, and they split us up into 2 groups: the first half did the paperwork and the HR panel interview, the second half did the compass test/verbal reasoning test. I was in the group that did the compass test... Continue reading this interview experience

  7. Dec 08, 2020 First off awesome experience and not like any other interview I've done thus far. Other recent gouge reports are spot on, but here are the highlights: Get to DTW on your own,  Lodging covered by K4, hotel van will pick you up and drop you off at the airport. We finished our group of 20 by 4:30pm. 8:40am van to K4 in which they provide for the group. A fun welcome by Holly when you get there and a bit about the history and where the company is/going. Other people including a person from... Continue reading this interview experience

  8. Dec 08, 2020 Very straight forward and scripted what you read online. Compass testing half the day. Simple Math, Verbal Reasoning, memorization exercise, flight director exercise, aircraft positioning exercise, and personality questions. Then you go into interview with panel of 5 people. Straight forward questions.  (view the study guide of this website).  They called a few hours after the interview and offered me a 747 position. Great people. Great... 9. Oct 19, 2020 Stayed at TownePlace hotel in Belleville, MI, company puts you up for the night but travel to MI is up to you. Fly in and out of DTW and there is a complimentary shuttle van to the hotel. Our interview session was changed to the hotel conference room due to covid issues. Free breakfast at the hotel, company paid for sandwiches for your lunch. There were 15 in our group, started with introductions, paperwork, and a briefing by the chief pilot. Everyone is friendly and that’s what they... Continue reading this interview experience

  10. Oct 19, 2020 Im not sure how much help I’ll be because my interview class was a little unique. Since we had our interview at the hotel, we didn’t have the compass testing. My understanding is that one part of the interview group does the panel and one group does the compass testing and then you switch after lunch. As for the HR panel, there was 5 members on the panel. It was very relaxed and all background and Kalitta based questions. There were no tell me about a times or what would you do... Continue reading this interview experience
