We've Aviation Professionals Prepare for their Interviews!
  • Everything mentioned in the prior experience reports have been spot on. Arrived at HQ, got checked in and chatted with random pilots in passing. Everyone was extremely kind, really. We got started right on time, dropped off our logbooks, walked past the DC3 where the interviews conducted, through the museum and into the movie theater. The video is epic. If you weren't sure about wanting to work at American before, you will be after. Then came the interview. Two interviewers come and take you to a table, they provide you with a pen and piece of paper with aids to help...

All the gouges on here are spot on, hardly feels like an interview at all, more like a welcome to AAL and them getting to know you. The key here, is organization, I darn near drove myself crazy for the better part of a month scrutinizing my logbooks, digital copy and all my documents, that really seems to make a huge difference, in terms of the logbook, best I heard it described was: "Don't make me break out the calculator", the easier you make it to read, the better, mistakes and addendums...

Admin (HR Zoom Call) â?¢ Brief introductions then asked for FTN Number and ATP Certificate number. Emphasized bringing all documents listed in previous email to the in person portion. â?¢ Brief series of yes/no employment questions (Checkride Failures, removal from flight status etcâ?¦) (view the study guide of this website).  Any questions for me? Overall very friendly, very conversational. Lots of small talk/asides I didnâ??t write above. Interviewer thanked me for wearing a...

Interview at American was a great experience. Just as described by everyone else. Starts off in the lobby. Put up your suitcases and take your logbooks and documents. Then give them to the review team. I cannot stress enough, get your logbooks organized and in order before showing up. After that we watch a 20 minute video about American. Then your interviews start. The 1 hour goes by very fast, just be calm and yourself, easier said than done but they make it very calming and relaxed. I got...

In person interview is really chill. You will do an HR interview via Teams some time before your in person interview. This first portion is about 30 minutes and you need to wear a suit and tie. (view the study guide of this website).  This portion had personal intro, anything else to tell us?  I have an arrest on my record and mentioned this here and said I'd bring the paperwork to DFW. The in person interview was great. I drove to the training center. Showed up at 1045 and talked...

My van time was 10:15. There were 14 people in our group and we all introduced ourselves before the ride over. When we got to the training center, we received a badge and put our luggage into some open cupboards they had for us and we sat and waiting for someone to take us back to another room. This room we signed in, got another badge and handed over our logbooks and they looked at our ID's. We were all then escorted to the theatre to watch the movie. Two employees came to talk to us after...

The whole process is super chill and they do a great job of trying to put you at ease, though I didnâ??t stop mentally prepping until shook hands with my two interviewers. I interviewed with a Prior Air Force C-130 pilot/current A320 Capt and a 777 FO with no military experience. Questions: -Tell me about yourself -Tell me about a time you had failed and had to take accountability for it. -Tell me about a time you mentored someone who was going through a hard time. -Tell me about a time...

Interview was very easy going and they make you feel welcome and relaxed right out of the gate. It's an open discussion type format with the interview and it was conducted inside of the American Airlines Museum outside of their DC-3 display. A First Officer and Captain will be there conducting the interviews. A couple of "Tell me about a time" scenarios, some technical questions that are straight forward, and then scenario based questions. -Have a confident posture in your chair -Speak...

Interview day experience was as briefed by others. I arrived at 1200 for a 1230 arrival time. Interview was scheduled for 1345. Checked in with security and then waited in the lobby. Met with the other candidates. 9 total in the 3rd group. We were told that they normally run 3 groups per interview day with approximately 13-15 per group. We were taken to another building where we met the recruiting team and they checked our credentials. Passport, drivers license, medical, ATP, FCC radio...

Overall it was a very painless interview experience. (Maybe with the exception of waiting to hear yes or no after the interview was over) They do a great job making you understand they want you to do your best to be calm and genuine. Have your few stories that you can talk about for the TMAAT questions, and just think logically through the technical scenarios, and you'll be just fine. It really just feels like a conversation with two other pilots, they are laid back and will ask you follow...

I drove myself to the training centre. There, I met the other candidates coming from the hotel. Go through security, get a pass. Drop bags. Go to HR for documents verification and drop logbooks. Then escorted to Museum, watched a video then back near the DC3. 2 pilots come to you and lead you to a table. Very relaxed atmosphere. Same questions and scenarios as you can find here. No surprise at all. It lasts an hour. Then returned to HR office and wait. Some people got called for logbook...

  11. Great resource. This is all I used and got the CJO at a legacy. It's crazy what the prep companies are charging these days. This is a much better route.
