Dining Comments: Tons of places if you're willing to walk a little. The hotel restaurants are very expensive.
Entertainment Comments: Located downtown right across the Gateway Arch and Busch Field (Cardinals baseball). Only thing is that it's a 25 minute ride to the airport. If you have time to kill, go over to the River Casino, which is like a 5 minute van ride from the hotel. The casino van will pick you up right in front of the hotel, just get the bellman from the hotel to call the casino and they'll send a van right over to you, 24-hours a day. The casino is nothing like Las Vegas or Atlantic City but it's not too bad if you have a long overnight, it's worth the trip.

Dining Comments: Go right out of the hotel (downstream direction), go a few blocks, then turn left and go a few blocks. There is a plaza area with numerous restaurants including TGIFridays, Hooters, Panera Bread, and Calico's. Calico's is good.
Entertainment Comments: You can go to the top of the St. Louis Arch for $10. Worth it to do once. Get there early so you won't have to wait in line. The museum of westward expansion is beneath the arch and that is free. Busch Field is one block in the other direction if there is a Cardinals game going on. A casino on the river.

|
Dining Comments: Don't eat in the hotel. It's expensive and it put my FO in the hospital with food poisoning.
Entertainment Comments: Plenty to do in the area. Hotel is next to the baseball field, so if the Cardinals are playing at home, check out a game.

Dining Comments: Charlie Gitto's is a great Mom N Pop italian joint. Very good food. Dinners are $10 to $16 and are generous portions. Turn right out of the hotel, going north on 4th street for 4 blocks to Pine street. Make a left and go 2 blocks to 6th street. It's across the street on 6th. For breakfast you can't beat Chile Mac's. It's a "Mel's Diner" type of place. Old fashioned pancakes on the griddle. Very good and very cheap. Pancakes are under $3 for a short stack. This diner is on Pine St. bewteen 5th and 6th. You walk past it to get to Charlie Gitto's.
Entertainment Comments: Same as the other post. Lots to do downtown.
