Hotel Comments: Much better hotel now that it's been renovated...used to be a dump, now it's tolerable and a lot cleaner.

Dining Comments: As previously mentioned...

Entertainment Comments: You can buy wine and beer now at the gas station across the street! Finally!!

Hotel Comments: I got a newly remodeled room I think, bathroom was nice and clean and beds looked like they'd seen little use. If you're here on a Tuesday they do a 'manager's reception' on the 6th floor where you can get free beer, wine, drinks, and some hors d'oeuvre s.

Dining Comments: Very close is Denny's, Pancake House, Taco Bell, Church's Chicken, and some sitdown chicken and catfish place. Captain ate there, said it wasn't bad.

Entertainment Comments: Not much around the hotel besides go to Walmart across the street. FO who picked up our plane said she went to some pedicure place across the street. I didn't try to find out about it, but you're welcome to!

Hotel Comments: The hotel itself is not too bad; seen worse. It's about a 10-15 minute van ride from the airport. Hotel is nothing fancy, but a typical Holiday Inn (with some new renovations and that's about it). The rooms were cleaner than before and more updated. The bathroom wasn't too bad, but the shower/tub could use some more cleaning. They def. need to do a better job cleaning the tub/shower, otherwise not too bad. Hotel has a restaurant that offers crews 20%, plus there's a pool (looks like it needs some major renovations), hot tub, a steam room, and a gym. There is no business center, but there is a computer in the lobby you can use. Free wireless internet in the rooms and lobby. There's a Wal-Mart Supercenter and a Walgreen's across the street. The van will give you a ride if you need to go somewhere.

Dining Comments: Right next to the hotel is a Church's Chicken and just a little distance down from the hotel is a Taco Bell. Ask the van (or walk) to take you down to the college area (Texas Tech University) around University Ave and there you'll finds plenty of restaurants, bars, etc. Ask the van driver for recommendations because there are too many to list, or just get out of the van and walk around and see what you like or not.

Entertainment Comments: Doesn't seem like there is much to do around this area. I'm sure you can do much more when college is in session, but otherwise not much going on. You can kill some time by walking around University Ave in the area of Texas Tech University near the hotel.

Hotel Comments: They may have remodeled or put new comforters on beds but that's all I saw. My crew all got 5:30am wake up calls even though we were not leaving till the next morning. My bathroom was disgusting. Big chunks of rust in the bathtub, MOLD all along the perimeter of bathroom ceiling, exhaust fan not working, chrome towel rack totally corroded with rust. Also, check the bath towels. I took one off the corroded towel rack and it had lipstick and mascara on it. This was so bad, I even took pics.

Dining Comments: I ate at hotel restaurant and the food was actually o.k. and we get 20% off. They were going to close restaurant while I was there because they were not getting business. There is a Church's chicken to the left of the hotel.

Entertainment Comments: Walk across the street to Walmart.

Hotel Comments: Hotel itself...nothing fancy, but not a roach trap, either. High speed is free, but a little on the choppy side as far as performance. Van will take you short distances. There's a Wal*Mart across the street if you're in need of anything.

Dining Comments: Church's Chicken within walking distance. If you want to walk about a mile towards the college area (or have the van take you), there's a burger joint called "Spankys" which has pretty affordable beer and burgers. Try their fried cheese sticks, too. They're fricken HUGE and COVERED in batter. One order is good for the crew, unless you really get off on mawing on a whole mouth full of melted cheese. There's also a new chicken place called "Raising Caines", which is near Spankys. Pretty much all chicken strips (chix strips sandwiches, etc), but actually very tasty! There's a Chilis near Spankys as well.

Entertainment Comments: We pretty much just walked down to the college area and ate. Didn't do much more beyond that. Sit at the outdoor deck at Spankys (upstairs), drink beer, and watch the college girls walking by.

Hotel Comments: This place will suck the life out of you. Drab, dreary, and overall an unpleasant place to stay.

Dining Comments: Really bad hotel restaurant.

Entertainment Comments: Ask yourself why you didn't drop this overnight.
